Monte Carlo Historic Rally

rallye monte carlo départ

Since the event was created, Reims has been one of the cities from which the Monte Carlo Historic Rally departs on its “concentration leg”.

For its 9th year, 90 drivers from throughout Europe will be lining up for the Reims-Saint Etienne concentration leg behind the wheels of cars which, for the most part, boast a prestigious past.

In accordance with regulations drawn up by the Automobile Club of Monaco "cars may be admitted which comply with road legislation and of which a similar model took part in a Monte Carlo Rally between 1955 (25th year) and 1977 (45th year)".

Competitors will reach Monaco on Wednesday 1 February.

The event is being organised for the first time by Reims Champagne Véhicule Historique Sportif in partnership with the City of Reims.

The city's involvement goes beyond simply hosting the event.

The “city of coronations” is going to great lengths to turn this end-of-January event into a must for car buffs or simply those with a curious interest.

In the morning: The Parc des Expositions is the venue where technical and administrative checks are traditionally carried out, overseen by the Automobile Club of Champagne Sporting Association with the help of the Automobile Club of Monaco. Thirty stewards give the vital "go-ahead" required for the start. These formal proceedings always provide a special point of contact between drivers and public.

Amateurs and enthusiasts can collect free rally posters and small promotional items from the city's stand.
