Les Flâneries musicales d’été (promenade concerts)

Reims, the city of coronations, champagne and the baptism of Clovis the first king of the Franks, offers visitors the prestige of a series of summer promenade concerts performed by renowned, world-class musicians.
Over a hundred concerts, mostly free of charge, are played in unusual settings in several of the city's districts, courtyards and gardens and at prestigious UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the cathedral, Saint Remi basilica and its cloisters.
Music pervades the city and enables everyone to enjoy and explore the “city of coronations”. The musicians, almost 1,300 in number every year, feel right at home in Reims; the city becomes their “playground” all summer long.

Of an extremely high artistic calibre, the festival nonetheless remains friendly and personal in atmosphere. The word Flâneries (leisurely promenades or strolls) is appropriate in numerous respects – around places, composers, works, performers and the centuries.

Jazz also forms part of the festival, offering a chance to hear the latest sounds performed by well-known musicians. Over 13,000 spectators also attend the great “Pommery concert picnic” held in the Parc de Champagne.
All types of music are included, be it classical, baroque, romantic, transcription, improvisation or jazz. And creative sessions are a daily occurrence at the Flâneries.
With Les Flâneries Musicales d'Eté in Reims, music comes to the people.
This event is original in that, rather than being just another festival, it is more of a unique concept that combines quality, generosity and, especially, no charge.
