This one-evening annual event was launched by the French Ministry for Culture & Communication in 2005 with the aim of getting as wide a public as possible interested in visiting museum collections.
Participating museums offer free admission for an evening and organise different events on a nationally-chosen theme (in 2006, it was Lumières dans la Nuit).
The event provides a unique opportunity for newcomers, especially the young, to delve into the extraordinarily rich and diverse collections housed in the nation’s museums.
Not only does the City of Reims take part in this event, but it goes much further: admission to the city’s museums is free on the first Sunday of every month.
